Welcome, Danicole ’23!
Mabuhay, Danicole! Equal Justice Works Fellow Danicole Ramos ’23 began his two-year postgraduate fellowship at the Refugee and Immigration Law Clinic yesterday.
Danicole’s project will focus on assisting noncitizen veterans in Hawai’i. Noncitizen veterans in Hawai’i come primarily from the Filipino, COFA, and Pacific Islander communities. Despite their service, many do not receive assistance navigating the process of becoming U.S. citizens and fail to naturalize. Some are even deported.
Working with students, Danicole will assist noncitizen veterans in Hawai’i to naturalize, bring deported veterans back to their families in Hawai’i, and advocate for legislation supportive of noncitizen veterans. He will also work on a policy brief summarizing what he learns about the needs of this population in Hawai’i during his fellowship.
Mahalo nui for your good work, Danicole!
