Canadian immigration professors visit RILC

Professor Constance MacIntosh, a visiting scholar from Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law, and Professor Jamie Liew, a Fulbright Scholar from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, with RILC students

We were very fortunate to have Professor Constance MacIntosh, a visiting scholar from Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law, and Professor Jamie Liew, a Fulbright Scholar from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, visit our clinical class yesterday.

Many thanks to Prof. MacIntosh for her presentation on the Canadian immigration system, particularly its refugee system, and the current hot issues in Canadian immigration law. It was fascinating to see the historical parallels, and the similarities and differences, between our immigration legal histories and systems. And it was exciting to hear about the progress that Canada has made toward the abolition of immigration detention!

Afterward, Prof. Liew interviewed Prof. Yoo for her podcast “Migrations.” Thank you for this neat opportunity!
