Congratulations to RILC Advocate Kara Teng ’17 on getting her client’s case dismissed from Immigration Court!

Kara’s client has been a lawful permanent resident and resident of Hawai’i for decades. She had a single conviction over a decade ago for which she fulfilled the conditions for a Deferred Acceptance of a Guilty plea. The conviction was then expunged at the state level. The conviction lived on for immigration purposes, however, and she was recently placed in deportation proceedings.

Thanks to Kara’s representation, our overjoyed client can stay here and avoid being separated from her family, friends, and community. Thanks also to Charles Jung Min Lee ’23 for his assistance on this case.
