MAY 20 CLE ON AFFIRMATIVE ASYLUM A HUGE SUCCESS!

More than 50 Hawaii attorneys registered for the RILC’s May 20, 2023 CLE on affirmative asylum. The half-day training, held at the William S. Richardson School of Law and led by Kevin Block, Esther Yoo, and Ethan Higa, introduced the live and remote audiences to the work of the Clinic, asylum law and best practices for preparing affirmative asylum applications, and guidance about working with asylum seekers. The trainers also shared their personal experiences working with clients and the challenges and rewards of asylum practice. The Clinic is extremely grateful that a number of enthusiastic attorneys remained after the session to consult with the trainers as well as answered the call for help to provide pro bono representation to clients of the Clinic!

If you are an attorney in Hawaii and would like to volunteer your time to represent one of the Clinic’s clients eligible for asylum or other legal relief, please contact the Clinic at RILCinfo@hawaii.edu or sign up by completing our Google form. Mahalo nui to all who attended!
